If you have insufficient credit history or the credit history you do have is blemished, you may need to either build or rebuild your credit profile. Using prepaid or secured credit cards is a terrific way to build your credit.
Most banks who offer secured or prepaid credit cards normally extend credit to you if you agree to offset their risk with a security deposit. Others simply factor the risk adjustment into their interest rate or terms.
By applying for credit from one or more of the sources on this page, you can begin to build your credit if you do not have any, or you can rebuild your credit if it has been banged up.

IMPORTANT: A key to success with your new credit cards is to prove how reliably you can make monthly payments. Always make your payments on time. |
We recommend that you make a single minimum purchase ($10 to $20 maximum) on each one of a few new credit cards, then make the minimum payment on them for half a year or so.
Do not run up the balances and do not pay them off completely. Also, do not close your accounts for at least two years or until you have replaced each account with a traditional account.
Your credit scores are based in large part on how regularly you make your monthly payments on time, not on how much you use your cards. If you do not have any delinquent credit accounts, your credit scores should build by about 5-15 points per month once you have two or three credit lines in service.
Select from the these credit card options to find a credit card that best suits your needs and goals. |
