Credit Restoration Services - Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why should I worry about managing my credit profile?

Your credit profile tells the rest of the wordl about your habits and your character.  The problem is that, like the rest of the world, what they see is not always the truth.  You can be a fantastic person, but if your credit history says otherwise, you will be fighting an uphill battle with your future creditors, lenders, insurers, and even employers.

  • What is involved in the credit restoration process?

When creditors post information to your credit report, they do so voluntarily.  There is nothing that says they MUST give the nation's credit repositories information about you.  There is, however, something that says if they decide to volunteer that information that it must be complete and accurate--the Fair Credit Reporting Act, (FCRA).

The credit restoration process is simply a set of procedures that ensure creditors are acting in compliance with the laws that protect you.  Properly trained credit repair/restoration professionals review your credit report, identify all potential violations and errors, and help you effectively challenge the wrongfully posted or erroneous credit report content.

Creditors must also follow the laws with respect to the procedures they use when posting content to your credit report.  You may rightfully owe for a collection account, for example, but if the creditor, the reporting company or collecting company did not follow proper protocol, they may be required to remove the posted content, or face fines for being non-compliant with the FCRA.

Professional help in this area is critical, especially if you have been the victim of identity theft or credit fraud, or if your credit report is riddled with errors in the wake of a divorce, bankruptcy, lawsuit, or foreclosure.  Click Here if you want professional credit repair/restoration help right away.

  • Why can't I do this all by myself?

You can do the work by yourself.  You may also wish to perform your own dental work or legal work, too.

The fact is that your creditors can be pretty sneeky, often negligent or lazy, and sometimes downright evil.  They may or may care about you or the fact that they have trashed your credit profile.  And more often than not, they do not know that they face still fines for not complying with federal laws that protect you as a credit user.

You can try to get things resolved yourself, and USCA encourages you to do so.  (We even have a self-help section for that purpose).  However, you sometimes need to bring in the "big guns" when your personal efforts fail.  Hiring your own attorney to clear up your credit can cost perhaps thousands of dollars with maybe marginal results.  Choosing to use a Professional Credit Restoration Company that offers a service guarantee will generally be a better choice for both cost and effectiveness.

  • What if credit restoration does not work for me?

Professional credit restoration servcies do not work for a very small percentage of people.  That's why USCA only endorses companies that offer a service guarantee.

  • I heard that credit repair is illegal, is that true?

That's totally false.  Credit repair is totally legal when performed in compliance with state and federal laws.  However, you must be very careful in choosing a company.  USCA only endorses companies who function out of respect for the guidelines as set forth by the Federal Trade Commission.

[It's actually illegal for companies to post erroneous and obsolete information to your credit report, not for a company to help you fix it...]

  • Is my personal information secure?

Yes, USCA takes care to only recommend companies that use proper data encryption and storage technologies.

  • As a professional, I run into people who need credit restoration services all the time.  Can I benefit by referring business to USCA?

Yes.  Very much so!  Submitting referral business through USCA vendors will allow you to improve your clients' credit and debt profiles over time.  Better credit scores and lower debt loads genberally mena better business for you.
